Staff Spotlight

We are so lucky to have such a fun and talented staff here at 26.2, we decided it's worth some spotlighting! Plus, we want to make sure you know we're all running nerds just like you are! And to reassure you that we know what we're talking about because, let's face it, we've had those injuries, run in those shoes, competed in that race, etc...

So, to kick off our staff spotlights, we are pleased in introduce...drumroll...Alden Bahr! Alden was the winner of the Freedom Run 10k on July 5th, in Provo. He won the race in a time of 31:52, finishing 23 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Way to go Alden!

A Provo native, Alden ran for Mountain View High School, and even garnered a State Championships team title while he was there. He competed a year and a half for Brigham Young University, (and was named Freshman of the Year in the Mountain West Conference), before serving in the New York, New York South mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He returned to BYU's team last year, placing top ten in the Cross Country MWC Championships, and helped the men's team take 17th place at NCAA Cross Country Nationals. He also made the NCAA Track and Field Regional meet in May, competing in the 10k.

Alden is majoring in Spanish and has plans to go to medical school after graduation.

You can find Alden working hard in the 26.2 Provo store, or running around town, of course. Keep up the good work Alden!

Three Summer Essentials

There’s nothing quite like summer running. Whether you’re stumbling out your door to squeeze in some miles before work in the mild morning temperatures , braving the heat on your afternoon break, or lacing up to enjoy the long summer evenings; it’s running, with a little hint of summer magic.

That is until the little aches and pains creep up on you, your shoes give out, or your socks get holes. You can’t afford this! You’ve got road races to get ready for! 5k’s, 10k’s, half marathons, full marathons, mud runs, relays, ultras! Even just Saturday’s long run seems daunting now.

This is where we come in. 26.2 has what it takes to keep your summer training going strong! Here’s just a few of the many ways we make you smile through the miles.

1. The Foam Roller- sure you’ve heard of The Stick (we have that too…) but what about The Foam Roller? Don’t be fooled by the “foam” part, this roller will grind out the toughest of knots. The Stick is ideal for lower leg pain, but try the roller for your quads, IT, hamstrings, glutes, calves too, even your back! Don’t think you’re having pain in these muscles? How are the sides of your knees? IT tightness. How are your shins? Calf tightness. What about the top of your knee? Quad tightness. The back of your knee? Hamstring tightness. Hips? Try rolling your glutes. Feeling out of alignment? Get those knots in your lower back without seeing a specialist. All this treatment for purchasing a foam roller at 26.2 Running Co for $24.95!

2. Shot Blocks- Tired of the typical Gu? Try a new way to refuel with Shot Blocks, made by Clif Bar. Like super packed fruit snacks, 2 or 3 of these blocks will keep you energized through the last few miles. Take as many squares as your run requires in your water bottle belt, running pouch, or shorts pocket, and pop them in every 45 minutes to 1 hour. They’re also perfect for a pre and/or post run snack. Try refrigerating them prior to your run for a cool summer treat. And don’t forget we’ve got Hammer Gel, Carb Boom, Jelly Belly Sport Beans, Gu, Gu Brew, and Gu Chomps as well!

3. Asics Core Shirts and Tanks- Your favorite old cotton t-shirt just not cutting it anymore through the summer heat? Come in and try on an Asics Core shirt or tank top. Their special moisture wicking Core technology combined with a light mesh material will keep you feeling cool until the last mile. Available for both men and women in a variety of colors, you’ll be stylin’ and comfortable on every run.

So come in and kick start your summer running right with 26.2! Don’t forget to keep checking our blog for more helpful tips and updates; and as always, “Run with the Best!”
